“I used to work for the government, now I work for the public”
“What does that mean”
“I never realized there was a difference”
That’s a powerful line
“that’s a powerful lie” fixed it
@Qopa dummy, elections are rigged. maybe not necessarily the votes that is rigged but the science is certain. the most popular one always win. always. so the secret society just have to hijack the media and internet and make their preferred candidate to be popular and boom, they are voted.
@Shankar Sivarajan so very true…i agree with your response
Duh!!! Cocky bit over there eh! “Working for the government, now I work for the public?” You know what that means! You worked for a Contractor, and was assigned to the Government Intelligence Agency! Do not mis-lead your audience!! Problem here is…. you put your hands on a cookie jar! You knew you made a mistake! That’s why you fled!! DUH!! DUH!! DUH! Young and messy, hands and brain! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Russians and Americans are brothers.
“Consent is only meaningful when we are informed” words of a hero.
That’s the only rule if you want to do business with Data but they say we allow or don’t use it at all.
@Eyes that smile – Heart that Loves He got stuck in Russia because the US revoked his passport.
@Emanuele G. Yes. He is the anti=Trump. Where Trump lies, he tells the truth, where Trump is a narcissist, he’s selfless, where Trump lives in his own dream world, Snowden is clear-eyed, he sees reality, where Trump is a con artist, Snowden is the real deal, where Trump is a coward, Snowden is braver than brave. So why isn’t Snowden president?
@HablaCarnage63 Exactly.
@Janet Nyirenda He gave them NOTHING.
He’s not a traitor – he stood up for what was right. His character is one in a billion.
@Oxident – “If he wanted to stand up against a corrupt government, then why didn’t he follow the laws set up by said corrupt government?”
And so tell me this he blew the whistle… Now what? What did it change? Everything is still and will be exactly the same
Oxident – you sound like a god darn narc
@Oxident – You realize that whistle blowers are often silenced, right? We have had this problem since the vietnam war. And even prior to it.
@Oxident – Do you think we live in fantasy land? Snowden have been killed if he stayed in the U.S.
I read his book because of this interview, it was great. Edward Snowden is a hero. Thank you for having him on your show, Trevor Noah.
I will buy the book today also to read t
The documentary Citizenfour is also worth a watch.
Got it as an audio book and couldn’t stop listening. An amazing publication.
My wife asked me why i was whispering at home I said I was worried that Mark Zuckerberg was listening. She laughed. I laughed. Alexa laughed. Siri laughed. We all laughed…
I could hear them both talk all day. My IQ just increased 10 points
Trevor Noah is kinda dumb tho
@Hassan Zameer what makes you think that?
@ali afaaq Khan and why do you think she had 0 iq earlier?
Stop trolling guys…its just a way of saying that her way of thinking and knowledge increased.
Listen to John Pilger, Chomsky as well, you’ll heighten your IQ, SQ by another 11% 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My wife asked me why i was whispering at home I said I was worried that Mark Zuckerberg was listening. She laughed. I laughed. Alexa laughed. Siri laughed. We all laughed…
👍
Copy paste joke… everywhere I go, I see his face
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 top 10 YouTube comments ever!
Mark himself laughed
Snowden smirked
The US wouldn’t be a laughable country if they had people like Snowden leading it.
murica is very laughable . no healthcare system . everything expensive . low IQ . fat. racist . police brutality . homeless people . the list goes on
That’s powerful man
@Danksgiving it’s kinda true tho. The US is the laughing stock of the world right now.
@Danksgiving Like the showman show respect to Russia and people who live there? Please….
That’s hilarious the book wasnt even that popular but when the government tried to stop it they only made it more popular. Thats actually so funny.
Called the Streisand effect.Happens in India all the time
Trevor did an amazing job interviewing here – deep questions, respectful, somehow even brought humour to an extremely heavy topic.
This dude threw away his life so we would know what was happening, he sacrificed his american life, his standing in the u.s. and his privacy for the rest of his days… just to tell the ppl of the u.s. that we are being violated.
This man is a badass like no other
Don’t make it like Moscow is the worst place on earth it is still in one of the greatest cities in the world. True, he might not be able to see his family and friends that much but they can still visit him there.
His story kind of makes me want to cry though. :-/
The sad thing is, the government is probably continuing to hide things from us.
That is absolutely right. I can’t believe that society criminalize whistleblowers but praise tech companies founders and millionaires.
@C. Huseyin Because whistle-blowers, like Snowden, expose secrets. Whereas the wealthy elite are in bed with the government and using their money to lobby political influence.
*”The attorney general is the best hypeman I ever had!”*
*-Edward Snowden, 2019*
He’s possibly THE most interesting person to listen to, for me personally. Not only due to the topic, but more so due to his amazing ability to instantly know why you asked the question, what you could be getting at and what you’re trying to learn from the answer. I’ve never communicated with anyone, in person, that could really hear me to that extent. Also, as someone else mentioned, his ability to put abstract and complicated thoughts into a 100% clear and communicable form is absolutely incredible. That’s what made me look for and watch all of his interviews I could find and be just as fascinated by the last one as I was by the first one.
due! I thought no one noticed that , I was looking for this comment and half expected it doesnt exist!
Exactly !!! he is so intelligent not just because what he did , or becuase he is an IT guy
But how he corelated things and explained and then came to the conclusion , its like taking our hand and guiding us through it all
but the way he answered the question to bring the true essence of it , it really was the essence of the video, this is what I have always expected from world leader or country leaders or parents or teachers, and I have ALWAYS been dissapoited
Just look at the interviews of politicians how stupid their answers sound and then THIS GUY!
How is he the on the run? urgh
Yes so true. He did say learning to take apart and reassemble computers and video games in his youth helped him think in a systematic way and I think he applies that to other areas of his life
None of us knew pur constitutional rights were being stolen.
in short he is a conartist.
@G Moore What’s the con?
This guy should be awarded with Nobel prize. for his achievement to humanity.
@onye ozo he did his part !!
But then someone who bombed 7 countries has the noble in his bag. That precisely defines this system.
@AD ITC what secrets did he give up ? He is the only thing that both political parties are united about
Candace Owen’s and for got some geeks together anv7
And we need an ultimate evil award for the US government..
I’m pretty sure they’ll be the winners every year
I love how everytime anyone asks Ed a simple, quippy question, he gives the most eloquent, elaborate, and educated response! He’s so damn intelligent!
For real. His tone is awesome too. He has a quiet and calming voice.
I don’t have patience to understand all the details, but love listening to him.
Kudos to Trevor for letting Snowden talk and naturally take the conversation where it goes, instead of being like a typical new reporter and forcing him to answer prepared questions.
i wish one of these presidents would give him a pardon.
We as voters need to force them to do it! If they want our vote we need to make it clear that we want him home immediately!
@Lone Ranger true , he’s safe in Russia
@Edward Saucedo Trump didn’t…even dodged the question when asked by replying “I’ll have to look into it…”.
There’s nothing to politically gain from pardoning him so no president likely will.
Why?
Kann ja sein…
I’m sure joe will, since he has no idea who Snowden is
“Consent is only meaningful if it’s informed”
– Edward Snowden.
“Comments are only meaningful if not stolen”
– Aloha Trader
@Skycomrade cry me a river
*”When exposing a crime is treated as committing a crime, you’re being ruled by criminals.”*
The Predators will ALWAYS be ruling the Preys!!!!!
@James Sunday 1984
@J 1984 + Animal Farms BOTH by George Orwell!!!
Best line I have ever read
Oh, and I wasn’t supporting y’all Asians, I’m saying that America has secrets and so do you guys
Snowden is not an ordinary human. His exceptional skills and critical thinking empowered him to take action and also protect himself. He should get the Nobel Prize as a freedom fighter for humanity.
This man sacrificed his whole livelihood and personal safety, just to tell his countrymen that we’re being violated. We owe this man everything.
